Marmak’s solutions accommodate the needs for municipal staff to simply and quickly locate and update specific tabular and graphical municipal data while working in the field either in a connected or disconnected mode. Marmak’s solutions are designed with intuitive mobile transaction capabilities. These solutions operate in either a standalone field mode with direct synchronization or a direct link to servers utilizing standard mobile connections. In the most simplistic terms Marmak utilizes Microsoft SQl Server functionality to establish a subscription and a client network utility. The database subscription will pull information from the designated server on the client’s network.

Replication is a set of technologies for copying and distributing data and database objects from one database to another and then synchronizing between databases to maintain consistency. Using replication, data is distributed to different locations and to remote or mobile users over local and wide area networks. Transactional replication is typically used in server-to-server scenarios that require high throughput including: improving scalability and availability; data warehousing and reporting; integrating data from multiple sites; integrating heterogeneous data; and offloading batch processing. Merge replication is primarily designed for mobile applications or distributed server applications that have possible data conflicts. Common scenarios include: exchanging data with mobile users and integration of data from multiple sites. Snapshot replication is used to provide the initial data set for transactional and merge replication, it can also be used when complete refreshes of data are appropriate. With these three types of replication, Microsoft SQL Server provides a powerful and flexible system for synchronizing data across your enterprise.

Key Components to the Mobile Functionality Include:

  • SQL Server Agent for Login Credentials
  • SQL Server Authentication
  • Database Replication
  • Subscription Create
  • Schema and Data Initialization
  • Refreshing Interval
